In most circumstances, yes. When UniSQ makes you an offer, you can choose to accept, defer or decline. This is the same whether you've applied directly to UniSQ or via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC)
If you choose to defer, we will automatically place you on deferral for one year.
To defer, you will simply need to email study@usq.edu.au with your request to do so and include the following:
- Student number
- Program you wish to defer.
You are welcome to return from deferral earlier if you wish - just let us know
If you are completing a program in Psychology, Honours or a discontinued program, you must seek Faculty approval to defer this study by contacting UniSQ.
Please note, not all programs can be deferred, this includes Paramedicine, Midwifery, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Non-Award programs like Tertiary Preparation Program. If you are unsure if your program is able to be deferred, please contact UniSQ via email.
If you are a current student and have started your program and have received grades, please note that this procedure is called a leave of absence and you can find further information about taking a leave of absence here.
