What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
Updated
For all students: The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number made up of a combination of ten numbers and letters and is used to connect your student loan information to your personal details.

If you are a new higher education student commencing your studies in 2021, you must provide a USI by the census date to be eligible for a Commonwealth supported place.

Please note, domestic students who wish to access a HELP loan (HECS-Help, FEE-Help, SA-Help and OS-Help) will also be required to provide their USI by the census date.

From 1 January 2023 all higher education students, including those who commenced prior to 2021, must have a USI in order to graduate and receive their award.

Information regarding creating or finding your USI is available on the Australian Government USI website.
